This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our event marketplace platform.

It applies to everyone who uses Event Nest: event organisers on eventnest.co.nz and vendors on the Event Nest vendor portal.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

When you use Event Nest, we may collect:

  • Name and contact details (email, phone number)
  • Event details (date, location, type, requirements)
  • Account credentials (username, password)
  • Payment information (processed securely by third-party providers)
  • Profile information (organisation name, business details for vendors)
  • Messages you send through Event Nest chat

If you're a vendor, we also collect:

  • Business details, such as your business name, address and, where you give them, your NZBN or GST number
  • The services you offer and the areas you service
  • Photos of your work and other content you add to your profile
  • The quotes you send

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

We automatically collect:

  • Device information (IP address, browser type, operating system)
  • Usage data (pages viewed, time spent, clicks)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies
  • Location data (based on IP address or with your permission)

We use your information to:

  • Connect event organisers with vendors
  • Process and facilitate event requests and quotes
  • Enable communication between parties
  • Improve our platform and user experience

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 Between organisers and vendors

If you're an event organiser:

When your event request is approved, its details (such as event type, date, location, guest numbers, budget and requirements) are shared with vendors whose services match, so they can quote. Your name and contact details are not shared at this stage.

When you accept a vendor's quote, we share your name, email address and phone number with that vendor, and give you the vendor's business name, contact name, email address and phone number, so you can arrange your event directly. The vendor then handles your information as an independent business, under its own privacy obligations.

If you're a vendor:

Your business profile, services and quotes are shown to organisers. Your contact details (business name, contact name, email address and phone number) are shared with an organiser only when they accept your quote, and we give you theirs, so you can arrange the event directly. You must handle organisers' details in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and use them only for that event.

4.2 Third-Party Service Providers

We may share information with:

  • Payment processors (for secure transactions)
  • Email service providers (for communications)
  • Analytics providers (for platform improvement)
  • Cloud hosting providers (for data storage)

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.

We never sell your personal information.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Event Nest is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
